This two-year course is run jointly by the ICGP and the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI). The course provides GPs with an overview of the range of topics relevant to occupational medicine and helps in preparation for the LFOM examination run by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, RCPI.
Participants will receive guidance on accepted standards of provision of occupational health services including legislation, ethics and communication, an overview of the identification, prevention and management of occupational hazards, injuries and illnesses and advice on how to access further information in occupational medicine.
This course is open to all registered general practitioners who meet the following criteria:
The course will commence in September 2023 and run until June 2024. Reading and other eLearning content will be available online as per the course timetable. A time commitment of approximately six hours per week will be needed during the course term (September – June). Participants are expected to attend two live workshops during the course on the following dates.
